Website Overview
We also pride ourselves in giving you sufficient information to make an informed choice. To have a web site that people can find, you will need 3 things, namely:
Hosting - Hosting or web hosting is the computer (or more precisely the server) where a website resides. Without hosting there is nothing to find.
Domain name - This is the address of where a web site is hosted. Taking our domain name www.shilohcomputers.com we can see that it has 3 parts each seperated by a dot. The .com part is referred to as a Top Level Domain as is .net or .org. There are also 2 letter country codes such as .uk (although some of these are now used for business purposes e.g. .tv now used for tv/entertainment industry purposes). The main point is have a domain name that reflects the country that you want to be associated with.
Web Site - A collection of web pages that are hosted on a particular domain
Web Page - A document that is usually written in (X)HTML and can be viewed in a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or Camino).
